In 2017, Anushka made her modelling debut in the Wendell Rodricks' Les Vamps Show at Lakme Fashion Week and was chosen by him to be the final model for The Spring-Summer 2007 collection. Since her modelling debut during Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did numerous campaigns for various brands, her campaigns for their Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry as well as Fiat Palio etc. Anushka joined an acting class before beginning to audition for film roles along with the modeling profession. In 2008, Anushka Sharma made her acting debut with the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The actress took a day off to get ready for her screen test and was unable to do an unplanned version. Then she was offered three films by Yash Raj Films. She portrayed an unwed bride and tied to a man of middle aged (the role that Shah Rukh Khan was portraying). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. In 2010 Anushka Sharma starred in the film 'Badmash Company together with Shahid Kapoor Vir Das as well as Meiyang Chang. It was met with mixed receptions.
